FIND THE HELP YOU NEED -- AND FIND THE RIGHT HELP FOR YOU
There's so much advice out there, in magazines, on TV and radio, ads and
talk shows, and from pesky friends and relatives, that it is hard to know
who to believe -- and trust. Could you handle your legal problem
yourself? Should you go to a "document preparation service" or a
paralegal?
LET'S TALK!
I will be glad to discuss your options and let you decide what's best for
you. I have always been a SOLE PRACTITIONER, dedicated to helping my
clients, one by one.
I keep it simple and speak in plain English, not "legalese." I also try to
keep all of my fees and costs very affordable. Call me, and if I'm not in,
just leave a message and tell me the best time to reach you.

MY BACKGROUND
Born and raised in San Gabriel Valley and a graduate of local public schools, I attended UCLA and
graduated with a B.A. degree in history. I have lived in west San Gabriel Valley nearly all of my life,
and I feel very committed to this entire valley as my extended community.
I attended Southwestern University School of Law, in Los Angeles, in their grueling SCALE program,
the only fully accredited two-year law school program in the nation (law school usually takes three
years). Just to give you an idea what it was like: the program started with 54 students in my class,
and only 37 graduated.
U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Sandra Day O'Connor was our commencement speaker. She
told us how she started her practice as a lawyer, in a storefront office in a strip mall, and not even
facing the parking lot, at that. She -- in partnership with another young woman -- only had a desk, a
phone and a typewriter. And look where she ended up!
So, inspired by her example, after I was sworn in as a member of the State Bar of California and the
Federal Bar in December 1995, I opened a tiny office in Arcadia, with a large table in lieu of a desk, a
phone, and a computer instead of a typewriter. My practice has grown from there. I may never make
it to the Supreme Court, but I think my work is very important anyway: I help people just like you.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
"Commitment to the community" means more than "getting more clients." To me,
it means service, whether or not there's money in it. Here are five of the ways
I've given additional service to our community:
PRESENTED a lecture on the topic of Affirmative Action
Pasadena Conference on the Status of Women, March 22, 1997
PERSUADED a local city to pass a "dangerous dog ordinance" because of an
increase in unfenced aggressive dogs in the area.
OPPOSED regulations previously adopted by the California Speech-Language
Pathology and Audiology Board because they were contrary to statutory law and
constitutional principles. After I made one hour of oral argument and wrote only
one letter to the Board's legal counsel, I succeeded in getting the regulations
repealed -- without costly litigation.

RALLIED attention and support to save the Pasadena Branch of the Los Angeles
County Law Library system from being closed forever on June 30, 2004. I
co-founded Save The Pasadena Law Library, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization, which garnered pubic support and political attention. We not only
saved our Pasadena Branch, but also seven other branches across Los Angeles
county! This rescue effort benefited self-represented Small Claims litigants as
well as solo legal practitioners and small firms, who typically serve average
families of modest means.
PROVIDED INFORMATION, in the form of legal research and legal reasoning, that
enabled ham radio operators to get the California Department of Motor Vehicles
(DMV) to change its policy and re-issue license plates to the affected hams, free
of charge.
